Association of increased chronicity of depression with HIV appointment attendance, treatment failure, and mortality among HIV-infected adults in the United States

JAMA Psychiatry Mar 01, 2018

Pence BW, et al. - The authors planned this study to investigate the association between increased chronicity of depression and multiple HIV care continuum indicators (HIV appointment attendance, treatment failure, and mortality). They realized an increased tendency for failure at multiple points along the HIV care continuum with greater chronicity of depression. Even modest increases in the proportion of time spent with depression resulted in clinically meaningful increases in negative outcomes.
