Association of BNT162b2 COVID-19 vaccination during pregnancy with neonatal and early infant outcomes

Researchers examined whether BNT162b2 (mRNA) COVID-19 (Pfizer-BioNTech) vaccination during pregnancy is associated with adverse outcomes at birth or early childhood.

  • A population-based study including a total of 24,288 singleton live births.

  • Newborns prenatally exposed and unexposed to maternal vaccination were noted to be at similar risks of preterm birth and small birth weight.

  • No association of maternal BNT162b2 vaccination in pregnancy was observed with detrimental outcomes to the offspring.
