Association of advance directives completion with the utilization of life-sustaining treatments during the end-of-life care in older patients

Yen YF, et al. - The effect of advance directives (AD) on the utilization of end-of-life treatments during the last month of life in older patients was assessed. During the last month of life, AD completion was correlated with a lower possibility of receiving life-sustaining treatments in older patients. These findings supported the continued use of AD among the older population.
