Association of adenotonsillectomy with blood pressure among hypertensive and nonhypertensive children with obstructive sleep apnea

JAMA Otolaryngology—Head & Neck Surgery Feb 22, 2018

Lee CH, et al. - The experts aimed to assess disparities noted in blood pressure (BP) changes following adenotonsillectomy in hypertensive and nonhypertensive children with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). After adenotonsillectomy, hypertensive children with OSA demonstrated a notable improvement in BP. Data recommended that children having hypertension with OSA ought to be screened and treated by adenotonsillectomy, as a proper treatment eased OSA symptoms and also potentially prevented future cardiovascular and end-organ disease.
