Association between polypharmacy and dementia – A systematic review and metaanalysis

Leelakanok N, et al. - Researchers conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis of seven studies to compile existing literature concerning the correlation between polypharmacy and dementia. Pooled risk estimates showed a strong correlation between polypharmacy and dementia. Although this analysis did not conclude the causality of the relationship, the findings support using multidimensional assessment tools for dementia that includes the number of medications as a component.
