Association between periodontitis and chronic kidney disease: Systematic review and meta-analysis
Oral Diseases Dec 19, 2018
Deschamps-Lenhardt S, et al. - Authors conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the correlation between periodontitis (PD) and chronic kidney disease (CKD). They also to explored the potential influence of periodontal treatment in patients with CKD. They identified 553 articles, and 37 fulfilled the inclusion criteria and were considered in this systematic review. Even after adjustment for major CKD risk factors or use of precise diagnosis criteria, the association could be observed. An incident rate ratio (IRR) of 1.73 was indicated in the analysis of cohort studies. Findings suggested an association of periodontitis with CKD after multivariable adjustment.
