Jin S, et al. - This study was implemented to assess the impact of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) on the levels of liver enzymes including alanine transaminase (ALT) and aspartate transaminase (AST) and on the histological lesions of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), such as steatosis, lobular inflammation, ballooning degeneration, fibrosis, as well as NAFLD activity score (NAS). Findings demonstrated an independent association of OSA with the development and progression of NAFLD, in terms of liver enzyme level and histological alterations.
