Association between human papillomavirus infection and sperm quality: A systematic review and a meta‐analysis

Wang S, Liu L, Zhang A, et al. - This study was attempted to explore the impact of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection in semen on sperm quality and present the findings of previous studies through a meta‐analysis. Researchers carried out to search databases including PubMed, MEDLINE, EMBASE, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, WanFang Data, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure for relevant studies. They conducted a systematic review and meta‐analysis, and 17 studies were enrolled for analyses based on a set criterion. Sperm quality was significantly reduced by HPV infection in semen, and the high‐risk HPV infection could significantly reduce sperm count in comparison with LrHPV.
