Association between human herpes virus seropositivity and frailty in the elderly: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Ageing Research Reviews Nov 08, 2018
Carvalho ACA, et al. – In this study, researchers explored the link between human herpesvirus seropositivity and frailty in elderly individuals by analyzing data from six studies representing 2,559 elderly persons. Relevant studies were identified through a search of the PubMed, SCOPUS, Lilacs, IBECS, and Web of Science databases. Findings revealed a link between cytomegalovirus seropositivity and frailty in those aged 60–79 years but not in those aged ≥ 80 years. Moreover, they found no association of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), varicella zoster virus, and herpes simplex virus infections with frailty.
