Association between flexibility and low back pain in female adolescent gymnasts
Clinical Journal of Sport Medicine Sep 09, 2019
Sweeney EA, et al. - Among competitive adolescent female gymnasts, researchers conducted this cross-sectional observational study to explore the connection between low back pain (LBP), flexibility, and individual demographic features using multivariable logistic regression model. The study sample consisted of 6 to 18-year-old gymnasts who participate in the USA Gymnastics Women's Artistic Junior Olympic Program levels 3 to 10. According to results, 30 out of 67 gymnasts in the past year reported LBP. According to findings, LBP is more prevalent in menarche-experienced gymnasts, while limited joint flexibility in this population does not appear to be associated with LBP.
