Association between dental health and obstructive coronary artery disease: An observational study
BMC Cardiovascular Disorders May 02, 2019
Lee H, et al. - Using multiple dental indices, the link between dental health and obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD) was examined in this study prospectively enrolling 88 patients (mean age: 65 years, 86% male) before they underwent coronary computed tomography angiography (n = 52) or invasive coronary angiography (n = 36). In patients undergoing coronary assessment, findings revealed the association of tooth loss with the presence of obstructive CAD. Researchers found a correlation between the number of lost teeth and the number of obstructed coronary arteries. In multiple binary logistic regression analysis, they noted an independent association between having ≥10 lost teeth and the presence of obstructive CAD.
