Association between chronic or acute use of antihypertensive class of medications and falls in older adults: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Kahlaee HR, et al. - Researchers performed this analysis to assess the risk of falls in older adults in association with acute or chronic use of antihypertensives, using data from the relevant research studies of cohort, case-control, case-crossover, cross-sectional or RCT design. They found that chronic use of antihypertensives was not significantly related to falls in older adults. Notably, the reported risk of falls was highest on day zero for all antihypertensive medications.
