Association between celiac disease and schizophrenia: A meta-analysis

Wijarnpreecha K, et al. - Researchers used MEDLINE and Embase database to review literature released through June 2017. The investigators reviewed 284 studies, and included four that compared the development of schizophrenia in patients with and without celiac disease. A random-effect, generic invers-variance method was used to calculate odds ratio and 95% confidence interval. Study authors concluded that there was a significantly higher risk of schizophrenia development in patients with celiac disease than in patients without.
