Association between bruxism and temporomandibular disorders in children: A systematic review and meta-analysis
International Journal of Paediatric Dentistry Aug 07, 2019
de Oliveira Reis L, et al. - In this systematic review and meta-analysis, researchers assessed the possible connection between bruxism and temporomandibular disorders (TMD) in children. For this analysis, seven databases were searched and 497 articles were evaluated. Through Newcastle-Ottawa Scale, methodological quality was assessed. To evaluate the certainty of the evidence, Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) was utilized. In the systematic review, 10 cross-sectional studies were involved. While the surveys showed a high risk of bias, the qualitative assessment of individual research revealed that children with bruxism were more likely to develop TMD.
