Assessment of pain score and specimen adequacy for ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration biopsy of thyroid nodules

Liao LJ, et al. - For ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration biopsy (US-FNAB) of thyroid nodules without and with local anesthesia (LA), pain scores and specimen adequacy were evaluated. Researchers identified US-FNAB as a safe procedure, and most patients here reported no pain 5 minutes after the procedure. Lower immediate pain scales and higher specimen adequacy were observed in association with the LA use.
