Assessment of a statistical algorithm for the prediction of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo

JAMA Otolaryngology—Head & Neck Surgery Nov 14, 2018

Britt CJ, et al. - In a busy tertiary care setting, experts evaluated a statistical algorithm for the diagnosis of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), with the long-term goal of implementing a clinical pathway to efficiently diagnose and treat patients with dizziness. They noted the efficacy of the algorithm for the diagnosis of BPPV in a clinical care setting. They noted the positive predictive value to be 1.0, whereas the negative predictive value was seen to be 0.96. A statistically significantly different linear predictor (LP) value was seen in the patients with BPPV than patients without BPPV.
