Assessing advanced theory of mind and alexithymia in patients suffering from enduring borderline personality disorder

Psychiatry Research Jan 17, 2018

Pluta A, et al. - The intention of the authors was to discern the advanced theory of mind and alexithymia in patients with a borderline personality disorder (BPD). Data did not exhibit any connection between Toronto Alexithymia Scale-20 (TAS-20) and the Faux Pas Test (FPT). This finding indicated that both constructs could be unrelated in the case of BPD. It was probable that ToM dysfunctions did not arise from comorbid clinical symptoms, trait anxiety or intellectual abilities. Hence, it could be regarded as a core feature of BPD.
