Antipsychotics and the risk of aspiration pneumonia in individuals hospitalized for nonpsychiatric conditions: A cohort study

Herzig SJ, et al. - The association between antipsychotic exposure and aspiration pneumonia during hospitalization was examined in this retrospective cohort study. After extensive adjustment for participant characteristics, antipsychotics were correlated with greater odds of aspiration pneumonia. When prescribing antipsychotics in the hospital, this risk needed to be considered.
