Antibiotics, acetaminophen and infections during prenatal and early life in relation to type 1 diabetes
International Journal of Epidemiology Jun 06, 2018
Tapia G, et al. - Researchers evaluated the impact of exposure to antibiotics, acetaminophen and infections during pregnancy and early childhood on the risk of type 1 diabetes (T1D) in the offspring. This study is population-based and the largest of its kind. Findings suggested that general early life infections, infection frequency or use of antibiotics or acetaminophen did not play a key role in childhood T1D. For gastroenteritis, hospital admission was related to T1D risk in this study, but must be interpreted cautiously due to the scarcity of cases.
