Antibiotic exposure and interpersonal variance mask the effect of ivacaftor on respiratory microbiota composition

Peleg AY, et al. - This study aimed to characterize the impact of ivacaftor therapy on the airway microbiome in cystic fibrosis (CF) patients with G551D mutations. In this group of patients, short-term changes in sputum microbiota composition resulting from ivacaftor therapy vs. antibiotic exposure were modest and, may be masked by changes in antibiotic treatment regimen.
