Anti‐müllerian hormone level as a predictor of sperm retrieval with microdissection testicular sperm extraction in nonobstructive azoospermia
Andrologia Aug 26, 2021
Aboukhshaba A, Punjani N, Doukakis S, et al. - Findings from this cohort study suggest modest predictive value of serum anti-Müllerian hormone levels for sperm retrieval.
Patients who did and did not have a successful sperm retrieval were compared with respect to their preoperative anti-Müllerian hormone levels.
Of 46 included men, 18 (39.1%) had no prior sperm retrieval and 11 (61.1%) had sperm successfully retrieved.
Sperm retrieval could be predicted in patients with no prior attempts at retrieval using their preoperative serum anti-Müllerian hormone levels.
For those without prior sperm retrieval, the optimal anti-Müllerian hormone cut-off identified was 0.133 ng/ml with a sensitivity of 0.91 and specificity of 0.29.
