Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction performed within 12 months of the index injury is associated with a lower rate of medial meniscus tears
Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy Jul 12, 2018
Mok YR, et al. - Authors ascertained the association of time to surgery with the prevalence of concomitant intra-articular injuries detected on arthroscopy during anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. Findings suggested an association of longer time to surgery with an increased prevalence of medial meniscus tears in ACL reconstruction. The prevalence of medial meniscus tears was reduced by the surgery performed within 12 months of the index injury. They suggested considering prioritizing males and overweight patients for counselling and early intervention.
