Analysis of survival after initiation of continuous renal replacement therapy in a surgical intensive care unit

JAMA Surgery Oct 25, 2017

Tatum JM, et al. - This study aimed at analyzing proportions of and independent risk factors for survival to discharge after initiation of continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) among patients in a surgical intensive care unit (SICU). Researchers identified CRRT as valuable for surgical patients with an acute and correctable indication; however, a significant decrease in survival was observed with increasing duration of CRRT. There appeared no correlation of duration of CRRT with survival among patients awaiting liver transplant.
