Analysis of retinal layer thickness in diabetic macular oedema treated with ranibizumab or triamcinolone
Acta Ophthalmologica Nov 23, 2017
Prager SG, et al. - An examination was performed of the comprehensive changes in retinal layer thickness in spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) images, during a 1-year follow-up of patients treated for diabetic macula oedema (DME). It was found that the reduction in retinal nerve fibre layer (RNFL) thickness could exert a significant impact on retinal function, unrelated to the type of pharmacological treatment, in the case of DME therapy. An accurate morphologic quantification of neurosensory layers by SD OCT yielded new insight in terms of the disease pathology and therapeutic targets.
