An eight-month randomized controlled trial on the use of intra-oral cameras and text messages for gingivitis control among adults

Araujo MR, et al. - Researchers estimated the data to evaluate the consequences of an intra-oral camera (IOC) use during a dental hygiene consultation and mobile text messages (TM) between appointments on clinical, behavioral and psychological parameters of subjects with gingivitis. A sum of 142 candidates was categorized: IOC, TM, IOC + TM and control. They observed an improvement in clinical, behavioral and psychological parameters of periodontal health 4 months after treatment, maintained at 8 months' follow-up from using the IOC in consultation and TM between appointments.
