Altered serum n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acid profile and risks of mortality and cardiovascular events in a cohort of hemodialysis patients

Journal of Renal Nutrition Nov 21, 2017

Kuwamura Y, et al. - Researchers presumed that serum ratio of n-6 arachidonic acid (AA) to n-6 dihomo-γ-linoleic acid (DGLA) [AA/DGLA] is altered in hemodialysis patients resulting in poor clinical outcomes. They tested this presumption in this single-center cohort study. Findings demonstrated that patients with end-stage renal disease requiring hemodialysis exhibited elevated AA/DGLA ratio, that served as an independent predictor of poor clinical outcomes.
