Alcohol septal ablation for hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy: A 16-year Australian single centre experience
Heart, Lung, and Circulation Oct 18, 2017
Nogic J, et al. - This study describes the experience with alcohol septal ablation (ASA) in the treatment of patients with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM) in a single Australian centre over 16 years. Researchers reported that ASA afforded significant reduction of LVOT gradient, clinical symptoms and interventricular septal (IVS) thickness in correctly selected patients, in a safe as well as effective manner. During the first year post procedure, the largest effects were visible, however, ongoing decrease of LVOT gradient and symptoms could be seen many years post ablation.
