Age-associated risk of 90-day postoperative mortality after cytoreductive surgery for advanced ovarian cancer
JAMA May 15, 2019
Melamed A, et al. - In this investigation, researchers characterized links between age and 90-day postoperative mortality following cytoreductive surgery and examined whether administrating neoadjuvant chemotherapy lowers the age-associated risk of 90-day mortality. Improved long-term survival was related to surgical resection of all visible tumors, which was also a critical part of advanced stage ovarian cancer primary therapy. However, a significant risk of complications and death is related to cytoreductive surgery.
