Aesthetic outcomes and morphological changes in chin parameters after mandibular distraction and subsequent advancement genioplasty in patients with mandibular micrognathia
International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Jul 19, 2018
Khalifa GA, et al. - Experts addressed lower facial third aesthetics in a consecutive series of subjects with micrognathia who underwent mandibular distraction osteogenesis (MDO) and subsequent advancement genioplasty. Final results produced satisfaction in the patients; according to the questionnaire. The amount of chin advancement and minimized relapses was reduced by MDO. Compared to isolated MDO, the soft tissue response of the lower facial third was more sensitive to genioplasty. A modest horizontal chin movement was led by MDO and genioplasty that achieves the preferred pogonion position and projection.
