Clinical Ophthalmology Jun 18, 2021
Nasef MH, El Emam SY, Sharaf AF, et al. - Researchers conducted this retrospective study to examine the safety and effectiveness of green thermal laser as adjunctive therapy for the treatment of resistant infectious keratitis (IK) in the Delta region of Egypt. Between June 1, 2016, and May 30, 2020, 150 patients (150 eyes), mean age 46.2 ± 7.7 years, treated at Tanta University Ophthalmology Hospital were included. Common risk factors for IK included plant-based material trauma and contact lens wear. Data reported that the mean duration of healing was 2.87 ± 0.7 weeks. Throughout the study, no decrease in corrected distance visual acuity was observed. Green thermal laser therapy is a safe and effective adjunctive therapy for treating resistant infectious keratitis.
