Acute leukemia is associated with cardiac alterations before chemotherapy
Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography Oct 02, 2017
Assuncao BMBL, et al. - This article is written with the objective to assess whether acute leukemia (AL) is related to abnormalities of myocardial structure and function before chemotherapy and to identify possible risk factors related to these myocardial changes. Patients with AL had higher left ventricular (LV) volumes and lower global longitudinal strain (GLS) than patients without cancer and lower GLS than patients with breast cancer, recommending that AL by itself may be related to these cardiac alterations.
