Acupuncture for chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome: A randomized, sham acupuncture-controlled trial
The Journal of Urology May 12, 2018
Qin Z, et al. - Researchers probed the efficacy of acupuncture for patients with chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS). Findings suggested that compared with sham acupuncture, acupuncture demonstrated clinical and long-lasting benefits. A 32-week (8 weeks of treatment followed by 24 weeks of follow-up) randomized controlled trial was conducted comparing acupuncture with sham acupuncture. Between groups, no significant differences were found in National Institutes of Health Chronic Prostatitis Symptom Index (NIH-CPSI) pain and quality of life subscale scores and International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) at week 4.
