Actinic keratosis area and severity index (AKASI) is associated with the incidence of squamous cell carcinoma

Schmitz L, et al. - This research was initiated in order to investigate the tie-up between chronically UV-induced tumours such as basal cell carcinomas (BCC) or squamous cell carcinomas (SCC) and actinic keratosis area and severity index (AKASI). A substantially higher AKASI was reported in patients with SCC than patients with BCC or patients without invasive tumours. Therefore, AKASI could aid in stratifying the risk for developing invasive SCC
