Accuracy of Shock Index versus ABC score to predict need for massive transfusion in trauma patients

Schroll R, et al. - Authors here determined whether Assessments of Blood Consumption (ABC) score or Shock Index (SI) better predicted the need for Massive Transfusion Protocol (MTP) in adult trauma patients with severe hemorrhage. Findings suggested that both ABC score and Shock Index could be used to predict the need for massive transfusion in these patients, however, SI was more sensitive and required less technical skill than ABC score.
