Accuracy of magnetic resonance venography in diagnosing cerebral venous sinus thrombosis

Thrombosis Research May 28, 2018

Gao L, et al. - Researchers sought to evaluate the accuracy of magnetic resonance venography (MRV) in identifying cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST). The Embase, PubMed, and Chinese Biomedical (CBM) databases were searched comprehensively to retrieve eligible articles up to Mar 31, 2018. From pooled analysis with random-effects models, the summary diagnostic accuracy of MRV for CVST was obtained. They used sensitivity analysis, subgroup analysis, and meta-regression to explore the sources of heterogeneity. They conducted a trim and fill analysis to correct the funnel plot asymmetry. The results of this meta-analysis suggested that MRV had excellent diagnostic performance and was accurate in confirming CVST.
