Ablation of the CL-/HCO3- exchanger pendrin enhances hydrochlorothiazide-induced diuresis
Kidney and Blood Pressure Research Aug 12, 2017
Alshahrani S, et al. – This study presumes that deletion of pendrin leaves NCC as the major salt absorbing transporter in the distal nephron and therefore enhances salt excretion by hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ). Findings highlight that the magnitude of salt wasting by HCTZ is enhanced by the ablation of the Cl–/HCO3– exchanger Pendrin.
