A systematic review of diagnostic methods to differentiate acute lung injury/acute respiratory distress syndrome from cardiogenic pulmonary edema

Komiya K, et al. – This research was designed to analyze the studies using biomarkers or images to distinguish acute lung injury (ALI)/acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) from cardiogenic pulmonary edema (CPE). Researchers found that there were no identified biomarkers or tools with high–quality evidence for discriminating ALI/ARDS from CPE. They inferred that a combination of clinical criteria and validated biomarkers may be helpful to improve the predictive accuracy.
