A randomized split-mouth clinical trial on effectiveness of amnion-chorion membranes in alveolar ridge preservation: A clinical, radiologic, and morphometric study
The International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Implants Nov 18, 2017
Hassan M, et al. - The authors compared the effectiveness of amnion-chorion membranes (ACM) and dense polytetrafluoroethylene membranes (dPTFE) in ridge preservation, especially when they were intentionally left exposed. In ridge preservation, intentionally exposed ACM was equally effective compared with dPTFE. ACM use could also aid in reducing postoperative Visual Analog Scale (VAS) scores and potentially resulted in better quality of bone available for implant placement, as evidenced by improved histomorphometric measures.
