Kaur H, et al. - A total of 140 candidates were estimated to examine the efficacy of verbal behavior modification, acetaminophen, and the combined efficiency of verbal behavior modification along with acetaminophen on orthodontic pain. They categorized the cases into the following 4 categories: Group A was administered acetaminophen, group B was given verbal behavior modification, group C was administered acetaminophen plus verbal behavior modification, and group D was placebo-controlled. They observed less mean pain intensity in group A as compared to group B at 6 hours and at 1 and 2 days. They noted that group C subjects met with less mean pain intensity in comparison with group B patients at 6 hours and at 1, 2, and 4 days. Overall, they concluded acetaminophen, the main instrument for orthodontic pain reduction after separator placement, with verbal behavior serving as a supplement to it.
