A randomized controlled trial of comprehensive early intervention care in patients with first-episode psychosis in Japan: 1.5-year outcomes from the J-CAP study
Journal of Psychiatric Research Apr 12, 2018
Nishida A, et al. - In a single-blinded multicenter trial, researchers compared comprehensive early intervention in psychosis (EIP) care and standard care in young patients with first-episode psychosis (FEP) in Japan (J-CAP Study). Compared to the standard care group, the specialized EIP care group showed a higher clinical remission rate and lower treatment dropout rate, even after adjusting for baseline characteristics. The specialized EIP care group showed slightly higher functional improvement than the standard care group, however, this difference was not statistically significant. Results thereby suggest that comprehensive EIP care may provide advantages over standard care in patients with FEP.
