A randomized clinical trial of cyanoacrylate tissue adhesives in the donor site of connective tissue grafts
Journal of Periodontology Apr 02, 2019
Stavropoulou C, et al. - In this randomized clinical trial, investigators estimated 36 candidates to examine the patient-centered outcomes, early wound healing, and postoperative complications at palatal donor area of subepithelial connective tissue grafts (CTG) in cyanoacrylates tissue adhesives vs polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) sutures. They observed 1.49 the median value of discomfort in the "suture" group and 1.86 in the "cyanoacrylate". They recorded 7.31 minutes, the mean time needed for suture placement whereas for cyanoacrylate application, 2.16 minutes. They observed no statistically significant differences between the 2 systems in reported pain level as well as analgesic intake, and modified early-wound healing index (MEHI). They overall concluded similar performance of cyanoacrylates tissue adhesives and PTFE sutures.
