A qualitative study exploring the factors influencing admission to hospital from the emergency department

Pope I, et al. - This qualitative study was performed to determine how non-clinical factors could affect hospital admission rates. The researchers identified multiple factors which partly explained marked variation in admission rates observed between different emergency departments (EDs). In order to understand their influence further, many of these factors required additional inquiry through quantitative research.
