A prospective randomized pilot study evaluating an ERAS protocol versus a standard protocol for patients treated with radical cystectomy and urinary diversion for bladder cancer

Frees SK, et al. - A randomized clinical pilot study of patients undergoing radical cystectomy (RC) and urinary diversion was planned to assess the benefits and feasibility of implementing enhanced recovery after surgery protocols (ERAS) vs standard protocols (SP). Researchers demonstrated the feasibility of a randomized pilot study assessing ERAS compared to SP post RC. As per findings, ERAS protocol provided significant benefits over SP with similar complication rates.
