A novel nomogram for prediction of early postoperative complications of total gastrectomy for gastric cancer

Cancer Management and Research Oct 06, 2021

Zhang J, Jiang L, , et al. - Using indicators available before and during surgery, researchers herein developed a nomogram model that would aid in predicting early postoperative complications of total gastrectomy (TG) for gastric cancer (GC).

  • A total of 363 patients with GC who underwent TG were involved in this retrospective study.

  • Independent risk factors for early postoperative complications were linear stapler, age, blood transfusion (yes), one-time consumables for surgery, number of total lymph nodes and number of positive lymph nodes.

  • The risk factors were used to construct the nomogram model.

  • The model has good accuracy as exhibited by calibration curves.
