A low phase angle measured with bioelectrical impedance analysis is associated with osteoporosis and is a risk factor for osteoporosis in community-dwelling people: The Yakumo study

Archives of Osteoporosis Apr 11, 2018

Tanaka S, et al. - Researchers determined the relationship between osteoporosis and variables measured with bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), including the phase angle. As per the findings, the predictor of osteoporosis was phase angle, which was unaffected by age and sex, and a lower phase angle was related to a greater probability of osteoporosis. They found that the phase angle was easy to be measured, thereby aiding in confirming osteoporosis even at home. Early diagnosis and treatment could be facilitated by this, which could be useful for preventing diseases related to osteoporosis.
