A comparison of treatment effectiveness between clear aligner and fixed appliance therapies

Ke Y, et al. - Researchers assessed Pubmed, Web of Science, Embase, Scopus, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Clinical Trials Register databases to study comparatively, the treatment efficiency of clear aligners and conventional fixed appliances. They noted no statistically significant variation between 2 groups in Objective Grading System score. They observed that braces produced adequate occlusal contacts, controlled teeth torque, an increased transverse width, and retention as compared to clear aligners. Whereas they found clear aligners with an advantageous segmented movement of teeth and shortened treatment duration. They considered both the treatments efficient in malocclusion.
