A comparative study of propranolol versus silver nitrate cautery in the treatment of recurrent primary epistaxis in children

Ahmed AE, et al. – The effectiveness of propranolol was compared with conventional silver nitrate cautery for the management of childhood epistaxis. Outcomes displayed similar rates of recurrence with propranolol or silver nitrate cautery in the treatment of primary epistaxis. However, local nasal pain was slightly more among silver nitrate cauterization treated group. Hence, propranolol could be a favorable treatment option for patients with primary epistaxis.
