High-risk human papillomavirus in semen is associated with poor sperm progressive motility and a high sperm DNA fragmentation index in infertile men
Human Reproduction Jan 29, 2019
Boeri L, et al. - Via analyzing complete demographic, clinical and laboratory data from 729 infertile men in this cross-sectional study, researchers investigated the influence of human papillomavirus (HPV) presence in semen on seminal parameters and sperm DNA quality in these white European men. They used descriptive statistics and linear regression models to test the association between the presence of HPV and clinical and seminal characteristics in the whole cohort. Outcomes suggest impaired sperm progressive motility and sperm DNA fragmentation values in correlation to HPV seminal infections involving high-risk genotypes.
