Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research Jan 17, 2019
Elsiwy Y, et al. - Data related to subjects ≥18 years old with osteoarthritis were assessed in about 15 studies to estimate the associated risk factors with cardiac complications after total hip arthroplasty and total knee arthroplasty. Authors observed a positive relation of increasing age and history of cardiac illness with a risk of cardiac complications. They also noted an association of increased risk with the gender of patient, especially male and cerebrovascular disease. No strong association was found between obesity and the risk of cardiac complication after total hip arthroplasty and total knee arthroplasty.
