Long-term outcomes after in situ arthroscopic repair of partial rotator cuff tears
Arthroscopy Jan 17, 2019
Rossi LA, et al. - Researchers examined 62 subjects (mean age of 52.4 years) with a mean duration of follow-up of 10.4 years to assess the clinical consequences, return to sports, and complexities in subjects with painful partial-thickness rotator cuff tears treated with arthroscopic in situ repair with suture anchors. They observed an improvement in the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons score from 45.6 to 85.1, and the visual analog scale scores (for pain) from 6.4 to 1.6. About 87% of the total were able to return to sports and 80% were on the same level they had attained before injury. They observed low incidence of revision surgeries. They also recorded favorable consequences for articular-sided and bursal-sided tears.
